Are you a fan of self-help/advice books? What has been your favourite one?
I am unsure if this is classified as “self-help”, but there is one book I have read recently that really spoke to me. The book is “Limitless Life: You Are More Than Your Past When God Holds Your Future” by Derwin L. Gray. It was a book that I read as part of a study with Proverbs 31 Ministries.
The book talks a lot about the labels people put on themselves, and how that doesn’t have to be your truth going forward. Here is a quick snippet from the foreword:
“If things as mislabeled they can create unhelpful boundaries, false limitations. If you label yourself a failure, you limit your chance for success. If you label yourself as weak, you limit your strength. If you label yourself a disappointment, you limit your ability to see that people appreciate you-or that God appreciates you.”
I enjoy the book immensely and it had a lot of great advice for living your best life.
What is something you know that you could teach another person if given the chance?
As a mention in a previous post I am more of a Jack of All Trades, Master of None. I know a little bit about a lot of things, but I don’t consider myself an expert of anything. That being said I think people could learn some things from me depending on what they are looking for.
I have become pretty proficient at creating and updating Facebook pages for various things. Some of the Facebook pages I currently have include my childhood church, a ministry for my current church, and the newest page I just created for my blog. That may have been written almost 2 years ago, but it still rings very true to me.
The second part of the question is “why I am here?”. I always want to write more. I always want to share more and interact with people more. It seems like sometimes life just gets in the way and I can’t get myself in gear. I am hoping that joining Blogging 101 and completing the assignments will help me to get in a rhythm of regular posting.

Do you usually keep your resolutions? Tell us about a time when you were particularly successful.
Honestly, I am having a hard time thinking of a time I was successful. For a long while I didn’t make any resolutions at all because I knew I wouldn’t keep them. So I guess I was successful in not making resolutions. The truth is, if you want to change something or do something in your life, you don’t have to wait until January 1st to get started. You just need a plan… this is what I want, and this is how I am going to get it. So I guess right now I am in the planning stage. I know what I want, but I need to lay out a concrete path to move forward.
I hope that whether or not you make resolutions, you are successful in whatever it is you want to accomplish… this year, this month, tomorrow… Today! Change can start any time. In the immortal words of Larry the Cable Guy, “Git ‘er done!”

What are your resolutions for the new year? Tell us how you picked them.
I have lots of resolutions. Many are the same ones I have pretty much every year. My number one resolution for 2015 is to turn the things I want to accomplish from New Year’s Resolutions to New Life Changes. I want to make them stick…
Here is what I want for 2015 (and beyond):
- Life Goals
- Get pregnant / Have a baby
- Get a new job
- Health Goals
- Eat better
- Exercise more
- Lose weight
- Brain Goals
- Write more
- Read more

Do you work well under pressure when it’s crunch time?
It’s pretty much the only way I work. I am a procrastinator to the core and then rush to get everything done at the last minute. It was especially bad when I was in school (high school, college). I would always put off my homework til the last minute, even more so if it was a big paper or project. Somehow when I knew time was running out it was easier for me to sit down and focus and get things done. However, I graduated 2nd in my class in high school and with a GPA no lower than 3.71/4.00 in my college endeavors (I have one Bachelor’s and two Master’s). So I think it’s safe to say that it’s worked out alright for me… 🙂
Is there a word or a phrase you use (or overuse) all the time, and are seemingly unable to get rid of? If not, what’s the one that drives you crazy when others use it?
I thought about this for a while. I even asked my husband if he thought there was anything I overused, and he said no. There is nothing that immediately pops out to me. In contrast I could probably answer this question half a dozen times about my husband. The one that drives me the most crazy is “in a few minutes”. Everything in his life will happen “in a few minutes”. Any time I ask a question that has to do with him doing something the answer is always “in a few minutes”. Are you going to start dinner? “In a few minutes”. Did you feed the cats? “In a few minutes”. Sometimes I have to ask multiple times and go through multiple rounds of “in a few minutes”. It makes me crazy! If I am asking you to do something it is more than likely that I want it done now. What makes it worse is that he is never doing anything important that requires a few minutes. Just do what I ask and you can go back to your games and tumblr and crap when you are done! It probably seems like I am a little controlling, and maybe I am. I just like to have things done and taken care of. It makes sure stuff doesn’t get forgotten and it keeps my anxiety down… for a few minutes.
One of my new year’s resolutions was to write for my blog a couple times a week, and I have failed at that already. I keep wanting to write, but when I sit down to do it I am always distracted by something or can’t decided what the write about. I even have a bunch of drafts saved on multiple topics that I just can’t seem to finish. I guess I just have too much going on in my brain to focus on writing anything down. I am going to try though… I promise… starting today. Look for more stuff coming soon!
So I got a Barnes and Noble gift card for Christmas and wanted to use it. I was looking for something interesting and different. I found this book, “642 Things to Write About”. It provides prompts to get you writing; some of them make you think and some are very funny. I am going to try and use it a couple times a week. If anything is really good or funny I will post it here. Fun, right? 🙂
